Itinerary:
Depart by boat for Livingstone Island from the Livingstone island launch site near the Royal Livingstone Hotel
The guides will let you in on the incredible history of the island as you follow the footsteps of explorer David Livingstone all the way to the edge of the waterfall. Depending on river water levels , prepare to be drenched in the spray from the Falls or watch a rainbow stretch across the open gorge.
Those who want to can even take a dip in Devil’s Pool or Angel’s Pool, (water level dependent) and everybody completes the experience with a 5-star gourmet meal prepared for you on the island itself.
A dip in the Devil’s Pool lets you peer over a 103-metre-high precipice onto the thundering Victoria Falls as they plunge into the gorge below. Enclosed by sloping rock sides that make it much safer than it seems, the pool’s surreal beauty is one-of-a-kind and no visitor to Livingstone should miss the adrenalin rush of a dip here.
History of Livingstone Island
Explorer Dr David Livingstone was paddling in a dugout canoe through swift rapids towards the roar and rising cloud of mist suspended above a cliff over which the whole of the mile wide Zambezi River plunged. The canoe (makoro) paddlers landed him on ‘Goat Island’, which is now known as Livingstone Island right on the lip of the chasm. A few steps through the small rainforest on 16th November 1855, and he gazed upon one of the most spectacular sights in the world – ‘Mosi-o-Tunya’ (the smoke that thunders) which he named in honour of his Queen as The Victoria Falls.

In low waters (approx end August to beginning December) guests can swim in a rock pool on the edge of the Falls accompanied by guide.

Non slip rafting/boating type shoes are very useful to get over the rocks
Children 8 years and above are welcome
Children from 8 years to 11 years can visit the island and cannot swim.
Children from 12 years and above can visit the island and swim.
All minors must be accompanied by a responsible adult willing to sign to confirm their age
