Victoria Falls activities

Victoria Falls is the capital of adventure tourism in Southern Africa. Almost every variety of adventure activity is offered from the ever popular white river rafting to magical elephant interactions.

At least one person in our office has done all the most popular Vic Falls adventure activities on offer. You are welcome to ask our advice on the Victoria Falls activities best suited to you.

Popular Victoria Falls Activities

Tours of the Victoria Falls rainforest - Zimbabwe & Zambia

If you would like a full rundown of how the Victoria Falls were formed, visit the Victoria Falls rainforest with a qualified informative guide. Unless the water is very low, we also recommend you hire a raincoat as you and your camera will get very wet!

White River Rafting

White river rafting on the Zambezi River is undoubtedly the best white water in Southern Africa! This activity is not for the faint hearted. Guests should be reasonably fit as the walk in and out is strenuous. The Zambian side offers a lift out that is included in the rate.
Serious adrenalin junkies should know that the best time to go white river rafting on the Zambezi is from September to January when the water levels are are lowFull day and half day options are available on both the Zim and Zambian of the Falls in low water.

Zambezi River Cruises

Sundowners are a tradition in Africa and a cruise is the time honored way of enjoying sunset on the Zambezi River. There are a number of boats from small to large that traverse these waters. If you have a special occasion to celebrate you could hire a private boat. Dinner cruises, lunch cruises, big boats suitable for weddings or small boats perfect to ask that special someone in your life to marry you are all available. A selection of drinks and snacks are included on all boats but park fees(about $10 per person) are payable directly on arrival at the boat.

Chobe Day Safaris

Chobe National Park is world renown for the huge elephant population, but it also offers a wide variety of other wildlife with the only notable exception being rhino. A Chobe Day Safari combines land and water game viewing from the comfort of open game viewing vehicles and a pontoon boat, which travels the Chobe River. Lunch is provided. Depart around 0700 return 17h00.  The no rainfall winter months (May – August) are the best time to see the huge herds of Chobe elephant as they congregate in their hundreds along the Chobe River to drink, wash and play.

Microlight Flight of Angels: Zambia

This in our opinion is the best way to see Victoria Falls - just you and the pilot taking an unhurried flight over the Falls. The pilot’s headset and yours are linked so he can tell you what you are looking at. A camera is installed on the wing of the microlight, to record your unforgettable flight over the Falls. Literally breathtaking. Definitely unforgettable. 15 minute or 30 minute options available. Guests coming from Zimbabwe will need their passports and they may need to purchase a visa to enter Zambia.

Helicopter Flight of Angels: Zambia and Zimbabwe

Ok so you’re chicken to fly in a microlight but still want to see the Falls from above. A helicopter flight of angels is a fun way to see the Victoria Falls from the air and in our opinion a must if you are going to Victoria Falls in high water months. The photo opportunities are fantastic and the view is beyond adjectives.
The short (about 13 minutes) option is the most popular, but longer options are also available.

Lunar Rainbow Tour

Between April and July,  the Victoria Falls is know to have an abundance of water flowing over. During this time when it is full moon , an unusual and spectacular light phenomenon occurs and a 'Lunar' rainbow is visible. One sees pictures of Victoria Falls feature an iconic rainbow during the day, and on a clear full-moon night a similar rainbow is visible. Hard to imagine that a rainbow can be seen at night, and whilst the colours aren’t as bright as during the day, distinct bands of colour are visible. Make sure to check if you are there over a full moon.

Dinner and Drum Show

Experience an evening of African cuisine followed by a drum show. This is the cherry on top to end off a lovely day in Vic Falls.

Livingstone Island & Devils Pool

A swim in Devils Pool on the edge of Victoria Falls has become a very popular activity for the brave (or foolish). Guests can choose from breakfast, lunch or high tea sessions. This activity happens during low water season only - for obvious reasons! The activity closes completely when water levels get too high. All guests access Livingstone Island from Zambia, so guests coming from Zimbabwe must take their passports along with them. There will be visa implications for some guests to enter Zambia.

Canoe Trails: Zambia & Zimbabwe

Half day or full day trails as well as fully supported overnight canoe safaris of one, two or three nights on the Zambezi River are on offer. Overnight canoe safaris spend their nights under canvas on islands or on the mainland as water levels dictate. A variety of big game and waterbirds can be seen.

Horse Trails - Zimbabwe and Zambia

Beginner's and advanced trails, half day, full day and overnight horse trail options as well as champagne breakfast morning trails are offered. All levels of competency are catered for and no experience is necessary. All horse trails are led by a qualified guide, who will show you the sights and sounds of the Upper Zambezi bush and river systems from the comfort of the saddle.

Not the highest bungy jump in Southern Africa any longer but still a thrill. Jump 110 metres into the Batoka gorge from the Victoria Falls bridge.

Adrenalin Half day - Zimbabwe & Zambia

This is three activities for the price of one and pretty good value for adrenaline junkies. You can abseil the gorge, fly over the gorge on the "Superman" and enjoy the thrill of the gorge swing!

Village Tours - Zimbabwe and Zambia

Experience local culture. One can encounter how the people of Vic Falls live traditionally - visit their homes, view the people of the village at work and at school and even eat traditional foods.

Victoria Falls Fishing Trips - Zambia & Zimbabwe

Spend half day and full day fishing on the Zambezi for Tigerfish or Bream with a specialist guide. Serious anglers, recreational fishermen and first timers are all catered for. All equipment provided other than fly equipment.
