Credit cards:
Most lodges accept Visa and MasterCard for extras.

Currency:

• The Zambian currency is the Kwatcha. Most major currencies such as Rand and US$
  are widely accepted.
• We find it useful to travel with small dominations of either currency. This is good for
  tips, departure taxes and small purchases. Some places wont accept large US$ bills.
• DO NOT be tempted to change money with people on the street. Rather go to a reputable
  bureau de change

Health:

• The Victoria Falls region is a malaria area. We strongly recommend that you consult a
  doctor and start prophylaxis before your arrival. Cover up with long pants and shirts
  after dark, sleep under a mosquito net and use mosquito repellant.
• Be aware that a lot of anti malaria medication and pregnancies don’t go together. If you
  are planning a family please discuss a medication that is suitable with your doctor.
• Yellow fever injections are required by South Africans and all other travellers who are returning to South Africa from Zambia even is only in transit.

• Livingstone is serviced by two para-medical facilities (MARS and SES.) They will be able
  to attend to you in an emergency and, if required, airlift you to the nearest hospital facility
  that can treat your condition. Ensure you have medical insurance to cover this eventuality.
• All visitors are responsible for their own travel and medical insurance. Please insure fully
  for emergency evacuation, medical, curtailment and repatriation.

How to get there:

• There are currently three airlines which service the Johannesburg to Livingstone route
  (Nationwide Airlines, BA-Comair and SAA) so on any given day there are more than two
  flights - more during peak seasons.
• All the airlines have frequent flyer programs such as SAA’s Voyager Miles which can be
  used to redeemed for flights to Livingstone. You currently require 20000 Voyage Miles on
  Mileage Keeper to fly to Livingstone in economy class. This is subject to change. To be

• We offer excellent fly in packages which include accommodation, flights and transfers.

• Self drive: We recommend self drive visitors from South Africa drive via Botswana.
  Although there are no security issues with travelling in Zimbabwe, fuel availability
  continues to be a problem. The road via Nata to Kasane is tarred all the way. Cross over
  into Zambia at Kasane using the quaint but time consuming ferry. You will require your
  vehicle ownership papers (or a certified copy) and a police clearance certificate of your
  vehicle. We recommend you contact your nearest AA (Automobile Association) for the up
  to date requirements.
• Border post times: Botswana- Zambia : 06h00 – 18h00. Zambia – Zimbabwe: 06h00 – 22h00.
• There are regular coaches from Lusaka to Livingstone. Buses leave from Shoprite in Cairo Rd (Lusaka)
  early in the morning - and again at noon. Book early at the station.
• BA flies twice a week from London to Lusaka.
• Zambian Airways has regular flights from Lusaka to Livingstone.

Passports:

• All visitors require valid passports to enter Zambia.
• Passports must be valid for at least 6months and have at least 2 blank pages.

Visas:

• Below is the latest Zambian visa information at our disposal. (Visas amended December 2008)

$50 for all passport holders - single entry
$80 for all passport holders - multiple entry
$20 for day trips

The above rates apply to all nationalities that previously required a visa to enter Zambia.

All nationalities that that previously did not require a visa (such as South Africans, Botswana, Irish) still do not require a visa to enter Zambia.

The $20 for day trips covers clients that may be staying in Zimbabwe or Botswana and want to come across the border just for the day to see the Zambian side of the Falls or do an activity.
